This Italian chocolate dessert is very easy to prepare and can be made ahead.

whole maraschino cherries

tablespoons brandy, if desired

quart (4 cups) chocolate ice cream, softened

cup coarsely chopped almonds

soft macaroon cookies, coarsely crumbled
1/2
cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained

teaspoon brandy extract
1
teaspoon grated orange peel
1
teaspoon grated lemon peel

(1.55-oz.) milk chocolate candy bars, coarsely chopped

Steps

  • 1 In small bowl, marinate whole cherries in 2 tablespoons brandy. Set aside. Line 12 muffin cups with paper or foil baking cups. In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix lightly to blend. Immediately spoon into prepared muffin cups, mounding lightly. Top each with marinated cherry. Wrap tightly; freeze. If desired, remove baking cups from desserts. Let stand at room temperature 10 minutes before serving.
