Ingredients

Toffee

1: cup butter or margarine

2: tablespoons light corn syrup

2: tablespoons water

1: cup sugar

1: cup chopped almonds

Topping

1/2: cup semisweet chocolate chips

1/2: cup white vanilla baking chips*

Directions

1 Line 15x10x1-inch pan with foil. Butter foil.
2 In 2-quart saucepan, mix butter, corn syrup, water and sugar. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves and mixture boils, stirring constantly. Cook until candy thermometer reaches soft-crack stage (290°F). Remove saucepan from heat. Quickly stir in almonds. Pour mixture into buttered foil-lined pan. Let stand 2 to 3 minutes to harden.
3 Sprinkle chips over hot toffee; let stand 1 to 1 1/2 minutes to soften. With knife, swirl softened chips over toffee. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. Break toffee into serving-size pieces.

*3 oz vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark) can be substituted; chop into 1/4-inch pieces.

When it comes to making toffee, a cool dry day is best. Both heat and humidity can affect the candy.

These will be a staple for Xmas baking in our house from now on. If you like Skor bars these are very similar. 5 star rating from everyone in our house:)

This is so delicious. I sprinkle some of the chopped almonds on top of the chocolate after swirling! It is wonderful.
