I had to share this....I and my family LOVE the sugar free cake and brownie mixes Pillsbury has come out with...hoping for a white cake mix soon? I tried the above recipe with the sugar free chocolate Devil's Food cake mix and sugar free cherry pie filling (Wal Mart usually has it) and it worked perfectly!! I, of course, didn't use the frosting in this recipe but it was perfect...took it to a church event and had a big hit on my hands! Please more sugar free choices and don't be afraid to try substituting the sugar free products as I did here.

Have made this for years. Easy to make, everyone compliments it. The eggs added corresponds with the cake mix directions.

My mother-in-law made this for my son for his birthday and since she passed away in 1999, I've been making it for my son since then. Sometimes I use vanilla extract or raspberry extract instead of the almond extract.

Like others before I have been making this recipe for over 30 years. My mother and I found it when it won the Pillsbury bake off. I make this cake for all kinds of events and everyone always love it. It is soooo easy to make. I would like to know who came up with the 3 eggs though?
