Ingredients

Chili Barbecue Sauce

cup chili sauce or ketchup
1/4
cup finely chopped onion

tablespoons brown sugar

garlic clove, minced

teaspoon chili powder

teaspoon paprika

tablespoons lemon juice
1
tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Chicken

to 3 1/2 lb. cut-up frying chicken

  • 1 Heat grill. In small saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients; mix well.
  • 2 When ready to grill, place chicken on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 40 to 50 minutes or until chicken is fork-tender and juices run clear, turning and brushing with sauce frequently during last 15 minutes of cooking. Bring any remaining sauce to a boil; serve with chicken.

Expert Tips

To bake chicken, place skin side down in ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish; bake at 350°F. for 30 minutes. With spoon, remove most of pan juices; turn chicken over. Return to oven; bake an additional 15 to 25 minutes or until chicken is fork-tender and juices run clear, brushing frequently with sauce during last 15 minutes of baking time.
