I tried this recipe the year it won and was so pleased. It's FANTASTIC! I haven't made it since, but have never forgotten about it. Now that I've come across the recipe again I plan to get the ingredients on my next trip to grocery shop. I want to make these again for our Christmas Eve party, slicing them into finger sandwiches. Can't wait, my family will LOVE them. As other reviewers have said, these are WELL worth the effort. Delicious!!

This recipe took five (5!) pans to prepare. Not worth it, in our opinion!

These are AWESOME!! I made them for friends on a whim one night and they were a huge hit. I've made them several times since then. The sweetness of the onions and the textures of the chicken and bread work really well together. Thanks for a great recipe!

This recipe is just awesome! The flavors go perfect together. Ever since my mom made it the year it came out, my brothers and sister and I are always requesting it.
Don't listen to the other reviewers who gave it a low rating based on prep time. Yes there is a bit of prep time, it says so right on the recipe, so of course it is not going to be a weeknight meal if you have young children.
I have young children and here are some of my tips. Almost all of this can be done ahead of time. The mayo and garlic you can mix ahead, they need time for the flavors to meld anyway. The onions you can cook and put in the fridge, it will last for about a week. Chicken can be pounded ahead of time as well. Pretty much all of these steps can be made ahead of time when you have time here and there, and then throwing it together is a snap!
All in all this is a great recipe and the taste is amazing :)

These sandwiches are absolutely delicious! When my family discovered this recipe in about 2002/2003, we made them all the time as we loved them so much but somehow forgot about them after we moved house. Well, I rediscovered the recipe just recently and made the sandwiches last night for my birthday dinner. HUGE success! I would highly recommend this recipe as it is very flavorful and satisfying. I used half the amount of sugar requested (raw) and plain naan instead of the pizza crust which I would also suggest if you are looking for something less bread-y. Could also stuff the ingredients into a pita.

I have made this several times now and my family loves it. I do use a little less sugar than what is called for.

My daughter had tried this recipe at a friends and wanted to makie it when I visited. So we bought the ingredients, made a mother/daughter night in the kitchen and prepared this recipe. It does take a little while to prepare but well worth it. I loved this sandwich. We substituted fresh spinach for frozen and it was great!!
