My 14 year old son loves this soup. I made it twice over Christmas break. He loved it. I used up our Christmas Ham by chopping it into pieces and used theat instead of Bacon. He liked it better as it gave the soup a different flavor. I always add more pepper and a lot of cheese to the soup as well. You have to put your own twist on it to make it yours. I made one in the crock pot overnight and one on stove top boiling the potatoes in the broth with water for an hours 1/2 to get them starchy. Both versions were great and gone shortly after I said dinner was serviced.

I was very disappointed in this soup. After testing it, I added more salt and more bacon but it was the most tasteless soup I think I have ever made. I love potato soups but I won't make this one again.

I doubled part of the recipe (broth, celery, salt, pepper, bacon), kept some the same (onion, flour, 1/2 and 1/2, cheese), and added a couple things (garlic with parsley). Also I used a bag of frozen hashbrowns instead of dicing my own potatoes. And I added the bacon to the crockpot when I stirred in the flour/half and half mixture. Most of my family of 6 loved it, the rest only like it but we're talking about picky eaters who won't admit to liking anything. I thought it had good flavor and I'll continue putting the bacon in the soup.

Always wanted to try a potato soup. This one's a home run. I upped the ingredients a bit, adding about 7 potatoes, 3 celery stalks, an extra can of broth, and yes, you need more salt! You need at least 1 full teaspoon and a half teaspoon of pepper. I used the same amounts of flour and half n half, and it turned out perfectly. The cheese and bacon at the end really add to the flavor - don't skip those steps!

The whole family loved it. My husband, who is the greatest man to walk the Earth, loved it so much he made it himself for a nice meal during football on Sundays.

Very good soup! I used low sodium broth and no bacon. Also, next time will cut back on the flour because it was slightly too thick. All in all it was delicious!

I read the reviews before making this. In order not to have bland flavor, I took 8oz of water, boiled it on the stove with two chicken bouillon cubes in it. This soup turned out soooo good. Im ready to have it again!

Second time making this I added extra seasonings and cut back on the flour by 1/4 cup. Much better.
