Way too thick of a consistency, I would recommend using less flour and maybe milk instead of half and half.

Love this recipe, sooo yummy! I never liked potato soup until now. Maybe it's the added sprinkle of bacon...

Great recipe! If you don't like the taste of the raw flour, add it to the skillet with bacon fat and onions and brown the flour (rue)add your half and half or milk and then add to slow cooker.

It was a little salty for me. But my kids loved it. I sliced up french bread for dipping. This is definatly a keeper. So easy to make too. Next time i will leave out the salt and add it later.

I like to add some crushed or minced garlic to the onions and cook them just until the edges start to brown. I also use a variety of potatoes - russet, red, yukon gold and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes add color and nutrients not found in the other potatoes. I've also added parsnips and carrots at times. I use 2 percent milk and reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese.

I have made this many times. I add about a cup of diced carrots. I thicken with instant potatoes or mash some of the potatoes. Don't like taste of the flour in it.

Add a can of Cream of Celery Soup after you have added milk or heavy whipping cream. adds lots of flavor. Use some Corn Starch as a thickner.
