acwc: I dont know where you get the idea there is a top crust. The directions say to prepare for a single crust pie (meaning you use 1 of the 2)..you make the filling put that on top of the crust, top with cheese and other toppings..I dont see anything that would have given you the idea that it has a top pie crust layer.

what has not been mentioned is the top pie crust layer -- when does that go on (recipe says to put 1 cup of cheese on top of filling?)

Made this for supper tonight. It was very, very good. Did not add the extra cup of cheese and fried onions to the top because we are on a low salt diet. Served it with a bowl of fresh chopped tomatoes. Also did not use Ricotta cheese. Instead added a half cup of sour cream instead. My husband loved it.

Instead of mushrooms, I add sliced olives. I also use crescent rolls in place of the pie shell. We love it.

Love this recipe! I love mushrooms but no one else in my family does. So, I just don't put them in and instead add a little more beef and salsa. YUM! I put the cheese and fried onions on and then put them under the broiler for a minute...YUM!!

I made this recipe exactly as the directions stated and it was awsome. My family loved it. My sister was visiting from out of town and she called me to get the recipe because she enjoyed it so much. Served with some lettuce, tomato and sour cream and was great.

Wonderful Meal . . . . Easy to fix and great taste!!! Even good reheated. The only change I would make is to leave out the mushrooms because my husband said it really doesn't go with the mexican type dish. But I like it the way it was.

Super good and very easy! The first time I made this, I followed the recipe and included the mushrooms. The second time I made it, I omitted them. I liked it much better without them. They just didn't seem to fit in a "taco pie."
