Ingredients

Sloppy Joes

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
  • 6 stalks celery, thinly sliced (3 cups)
  • 1 can (8 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 18 hamburger buns, split, toasted

Blue Cheese Sauce

  • 1 container (8 oz) sour cream
  • 2/3 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped (1 tablespoon)
  • 2 teaspoons Buffalo wing sauce

Steps

  • 1
Spray 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook beef and onion over medium-high heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is browned; drain. Spoon beef mixture into slow cooker. Add remaining sloppy joe ingredients except buns; stir well.
  • 2
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 3 to 4 hours.
  • 3
In small bowl, mix sauce ingredients. To serve, spoon 1/3 cup sloppy joe mixture on bottom half of each bun. Spread 1 tablespoon sauce on top half of each bun; place over meat.

  • If you’d like a milder flavor, substitute 1/4 cup ketchup for 1/4 cup of the Buffalo wing sauce in the sloppy Joe mixture.
  • Toasting hamburger buns lightly before topping them with hot meat or sauces helps to keep the buns from getting soggy.
  • Buffalo wings are typically served with crisp celery sticks. If you want to add the crunchy flavor of fresh celery to this recipe, add 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery to the sauce.
