Braised Pork Chops

A one dish meal that satisfies every appetite, the recipe was once printed in the Rotary Club Cookbook of St Martinville, Louisiana (Recipe by Bob Miers-1979) in both English and French.

Ingredients

potatoes peeled and sliced thinly
1
small onion sliced
4
pork chops, trimmed of fat
A little Pillsbury flour to dust the chops
salt and pepper to taste
1
cup of milk

Directions

  • 1 Arrange two layers of potatoes, then onions in a casserole dish.
  • 2 Season chops and dust with flour, then brown on either side in a little oil.
  • 3 Place on top of the potatoes in the casserole.
  • 4 Mix milk into frying pan with the drippings from the chops then pour over the top of the casserole.
  • 5 Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour.

For more servings, add a pork chop for each additional serving plus enough potato and onion so that each plate has plenty of this one dish meal.
