Ingredients

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 8-inch square (2-quart) baking dish with cooking spray. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook beef, onion and bell pepper over medium-high heat 6 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
  • 2
Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to simmering; cook uncovered 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  • 3
Spoon half of beef mixture into baking dish. Top with cheese. Top with remaining beef mixture, spreading to edge of baking dish.
  • 4
Separate dough into 5 biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 6 pieces. Arrange biscuits in single layer over hot mixture in casserole.
  • 5
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and biscuits in center of baking dish are cooked through on bottom.

  • To help ensure success, always store refrigerated biscuits in the coldest part of the refrigerator, and keep them cold until just before using in your Biscuit Cheeseburger Casserole.
  • Want to avoid draining the beef mixture for your Biscuit Cheeseburger Casserole? Opt for 90% lean ground beef.
  • Round out the meal by serving your cheeseburger casserole with a side salad with honey mustard dressing.
