Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lb fresh beef brisket (not corned beef)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (16 oz) whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Steps

  • 1
Rub surface of beef brisket with salt and pepper. In 4- to 5-quart slow cooker, place beef. In small bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Pour over beef.
  • 2
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • 3
Remove beef from slow cooker. Cut beef across grain into thin slices. If desired, skim fat from cranberry sauce in slow cooker. Serve beef with sauce.

  • Whole berry cranberry sauce looks especially pretty in this dish, but you can also use a can of jellied cranberries with equally delicious results.
