I made this recipe back in the mid 70s and I think I got it from the newspaper. It was delicious back then with the coconut pecan frosting mix. I've been thinking about the recipe lately and decided to try to find it. I am very excited to see the updated version replacing the frosting mix. I can't wait to try it!

I made this for the staff of our church in Cape Coral, Florida, and at Sunday's service one of the staff members came up to me and said it was definitely a 5 star hit and that I shouldn't lose the recipe. It was made without coconut.

I made this recipe when it came out in 1973. It was a big hit way back then, and the cost of the Bake-Off book was only 89 cents! The original recipe called for a boxed Pillsbury frosting mix that is no longer available, so I'm glad it was updated. This cake was fabulous then and even better now, thank you!

This was YUMMMM! It didn't look impressive, but was fairly easy and the coconut added a really nice crunch and sweetness.

This cake was a HUGE hit with my family. Only one small piece was left! I left out the coconut and nuts because my family doesn't like those two ingredients. I also doubled the bananas to four because it wasn't "bananay" enough for me with only two. I drizzled cream cheese icing on the top when cool. Way yummy and way easy! Will definitely make it again!

The first time I bake this cake was back in 1979. It was an instant winner. Everyone loved it. My high school used to have bake sales and it was the first one gone. I have not made this one for over 10 years since the ingredient "Coconut Pecan" (found next to the cake frosting), was discontinued. My family had requested it several times, but I just could not duplicate that ingredient. Now that I found it, with the ingredients from the Coconut Pecan, I am going to bake it this weekend and surprise my family. It was and it will be the most requested again. Thanks Pillsbury EH-California

Everyone LOVED this cake.I didn''t have any coconut on hand so just omitted it.I did make a glaze of powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract which I poured over the top of the cake when it cooled. Yum!
