Tips & Tricks

Everyone loves snacks. Mid-morn, after school or before bed, any time that's not meal time can be snacking time!

Hints to make your snack time special:

  • Mix it up! Make sure your snacks have variety in flavor and texture.
  • Keep the time of day in mind when you serve snacks. Spicy snacks are great for evening grazing, while sweet treats are good for mid-morning pick-me-ups, for example.
  • Set out a snack buffet for parties or game days.
  • Offer sliced vegetables and fruits along with other types of snack foods.
  • Serving snacks can be fun! Use an ice cream cone to serve trail mix or cereal-based snack mix, for example.  Party picks serve a useful -- as well as aesthetic -- purpose on party platters.
  • Think outside the box -- or bowl, as the case may be. Instead of your everyday dishes, serve ice cream or cobbler treats in parfait glasses, wide-mouthed coffee mugs, or on Grandma's China dessert plates, just for fun.
