Expert Tips

You can use iceberg lettuce instead of the romaine if you like.

Precooked bacon can be purchased in strips or chopped. You'll find packages of it with the sandwich meats or at the deli.

This dip can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance, but refrigerate the components separately. When you are at your destination and ready to serve it, assemble as directed.

Made this to bring to our son's home for a Christmas dinner. I did not add the bacon, and served it with white and yellow corn chips. It was so cool and refreshing. Will definately make again.

Easy and Delicious! I served this to a group of ladies who have some great cooks and all raved about it and asked for the recipe. We don't have sour cream with chives and onion available at my local markets so I just added a couple of teaspoons each dried chopped onion and dried chopped chives. I used pre-cooked and crumbled bacon and this made the recipe easier than easy. My hubby raved about it too. I will definitely serve this again!
