These are pretty tasty (its really hard to go wrong with anything with bacon in it!) yet still seem to need a little something more for flavor. I did add garlic salt to the egg wash which was good. Suggest buying regular (uncooked) bacon and cooking it yourself if you have the time because pre-cooked bacon is just ridiculously overpriced. Also, the egg wash runs through to the baking sheet so you might experience some stickiness and difficulty in cutting.

Since my Hubb & I are both Italian food freaks I added a just a shake or two of Italian seasoning to my second try on this recipe. Oh my goodness - I wasn't sure I would get even a bite - but it did turn out delicious.

This was great. I was so suprised it turned out like the picture online. The only thing is it needs a little seasoning before baking. Either salt with the egg wash or garlic salt.

Mine tasted good but did not look like anything in the picture! My fault. Used turkey bacon. I think I handled the dough too much. Will try again. Good serving tip, serve with hot mustard for dipping.

Made for a good lunch...added pepperoni and sliced cheese with bacon slices and added sliced black olives to the top. Next time will have spaghetti or pizza sauce for dipping.

This was a lot of fun to make. And there is no end to the variations you could come up with to change this appetizer up. I made it for the first time, strictly as it was written here (as I do most recipes). The only thing I would add to this version for the next time is maybe a sprinkle of Garlic Salt before the egg wash. It just seemed to be missing that extra flavor component. But it makes for a fabulous presentation at a party!

Great looking final product. Used the bacon but next time we want to do ham and cheese. And yes, there will be a "next time" in the next few days :-)

I browned thick cut bacon on one side so it would add some flavor when baked into the bread. And I added swiss cheese and finely chopped onion. The flavor, appearance and texture were wonderful!
