I found it easier to work with one crust at a time, making two pieces and putting them in the pan one at a time.

Great quick recipe for pie. For really fast results, I've used canned pie filling and used cherry on one side and apple on the other. Saves time and everyone got the fruit pie they desired.

I have a solution to peeling all those apples. Pampered Chef has an Apple / peeler / corer. it is the perfect gift or tool if you like baking apple pies or know someone that does. you can go on my website at www.pamperedchef.biz/KathyA . If you can turn a crank you can peel and apple in 5 seconds or less. Can not wait to make this recipe.

This pie is good and pretty easy to make other than peeling all those apples. however, a whole cup of sugar is just too much for us. Next time I would make it with less than 1/2 a cup, or maybe even just a 1/4 cup. That way, you can still have ice cream or whipped cream and not overdose on the sweetness.

Been making this for years and it's a great crowd pleaser. I put extra crust on top of the pie and didn't worry about matching it up perfectly. Just scattered those extra pieces of crust over the top, brushed with egg or milk and then sprinkled sugar over the top crust pieces. Made it crispy and crunchy and added that much more to the pie. We always called this "hand pies" at our house.

I have made a similar pie, but I sprinkled shredded cheddar cheese between the crusts before rolling them out. Yum!

I didn't have enough apples for a full recipe so cut it in half and baked it on a smaller cookie sheet. It turned out perfectly but did have to consider type of apples as to how much juice would be made as it cooked. I prefer to use tapioca for thickening as flour doesn't often do the trick. Basic pie skills make it hard to wreck and you don't have to worry about the top crust leaking all over the oven. I love this recipe for a last minute dessert idea, for home or taking out.
