Ingredients

Brownies

(19.5-oz.) pkg. fudge brownie mix

cup water
1/2
cup oil
1/2
teaspoon almond extract

Topping

1/2
cup butter
1 1/2
cups sliced almonds
3/4
cup sugar
2
tablespoons all purpose or unbleached flour
3
tablespoons milk

Directions

  1. 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 15x10x1-inch baking pan. In large bowl, combine all brownie ingredients; beat 50 strokes with spoon. Spread batter in greased pan.
  2. 2 Bake at 350°F. for 18 to 22 minutes or until top is shiny.
  3. 3 Meanwhile, in medium saucepan, combine all topping ingredients; mix well. Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently.
  4. 4 Remove pan from oven. Spread topping evenly over brownies. Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until bubbly. Cool 20 minutes or until topping is set. Cut into bars. Cool 35 minutes or until completely cooled.
