Family Pizza Tips
|
No fussy eaters tonight! Unroll Pillsbury® pizza crusts and use a pizza cutter to cut each crust into four pieces. Give each family member a square of dough so everyone can create a customized pizza with toppings set up buffet style. While the pizzas are in the oven, set up a salad bar and everyone can create a just-the-way-I-like-it salad. Set out a few kids of fruit juice and let everybody make their own juice blend beverage.
Sleepover supper Capture the creativity in your giggly overnight guests with an activity that doubles as a midnight snack. Cut circles of refrigerated pizza crust with a round cutter about 4 inches across (a clean, empty can works for this). Spread each circle with pizza sauce, and each guest can create a face. Try shredded cheese for hair, a half pepperoni slice for the mouth, olives for eyes and a strip of bell pepper for the nose.
Game-night goodies! Make a checkerboard pizza to keep you energized all through game night. Unroll a refrigerated pizza crust on baking sheet. Kiddos can spread the pizza sauce across the crust. Then alternate squares of your favorite cheese with slices of pepperoni in a checkerboard pattern all across the pizza crust.
After school dippin' Kids are starving when they pile off the school bus. When you are the after-school host for a gaggle of kids, pull out a few refrigerated pizza crusts. Cut into 1-inch strips using a pizza cutter. Let kids brush with Italian dressing and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and dried herbs. Bake and get them dippin' in pizza sauce or ranch dressing.
Great on the go! When you know you'll have an eat-in-the-car busy evening, create a few calzones with the kids the night before and bake them. Just before heading out, zap them in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, wrap in a few paper towls, and arrive at your destination with full tummies. (To make the calzones, cut a pizza crust in quarters using a pizza cutter. Add pizza toppings to half of each square, leaving a small margin with no toppings. Fold other half over toppings, seal and bake.)
Homework helper Homework got the kids down? Have a tasty incentive to finishing homework when you and the kids top a refrigerated pizza crust with all of your favorite toppings. Pop it in the oven, and head for the homework. When the pizza's done, you've taken a big bite out of the homework and can celebrate with a slice of pizza.
Pizza picnic On days it's too cold or wet to be outdoors, have an indoor picnic. Unroll a refrigerated pizza crust and create a family pleasin' pizza. Pop it in the oven, and while it bakes, set a blanket on the floor, gather picnic napkins and drinks. When the pizza's done, it's picnic time, indoor-style.
Movie night Nothing beats family movie night, and what better way to start than creating your own individual pizzas? Bake the pizzas while you're picking out tonight's features, and by the time you've got your line-up selected, the pizzas will be ready.
Sneak in the veggies Tough to get the kiddos to eat their veggies? Sneak some chopped broccoli, spinach and bell peppers into a tasty calzone, and kids will gobble up the vitamins in no time!
Take it outdoors Keep the house cool and still enjoy homemade pizza when you grill your creation outdoors. Try a Grilled Fresh Vegetable Pizza with your favorite veggies on a tasty pizza crust.
Special mornings Turn a dinnertime classic into a breakfast favorite with Easy Breakfast Pizza, a great way to start an extra-special day.
Stuff it! What makes pizza even better? Stuff the crust with cheese! It's so easy with Stuffed-Crust Pizza… just wrap the refrigerated pizza around pieces of string cheese!
