Spooky Paper Sacks

Materials:

colorful papers sacks

pen or pencil

scissors

sand or gravel

tea light candles or battery-powered votive


Steps:

For a super simple luminary, punch holes to spell out spooky words or cut jack-o"-lantern faces into paper sacks.
Fill sacks with sand or gravel to stabilize candles or votives.

Line the walk to your front door with these glowing bags to set a spooky scene for trick-or-treaters. Enjoy a safe Halloween-don't leave luminaries unattended.

Juicy Jack-O'-Lanterns

Make mini jack-o'-lanterns from grapefruits!


Materials:

grapefruit

pen or felt-tip marker

paring knife

melon baller or grapefruit spoon

tea light candles or battery-powered votives


Steps:

Draw a face onto the side of the grapefruit (a pen or felt-tip marker works best). Carefully slice of the top of the grapefruit. Scoop out the contents with a melon baller or grapefruit spoon, using a knife to cut the fruit away from the sides of the grapefruit.

Using a sharp paring knife, cut out the features of the jack-o'-lantern.

Set a tea light candle or batter-powered votive inside the grapefruit. Arrange the jack-o'-lanterns on a mantel or and outdoor table.
