Southern comfort foods are my go-to recipes. Because of that, I try to take shortcuts whenever possible so I don’t have to slave away in the kitchen all day to enjoy those delicious Southern flavors I love.
These Kentucky Hot Browns are one of those Southern classic recipes I have simplified so that they’re ready in minutes. Hot Browns are incredibly tasty and simple sandwiches that are great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.
These Hot Browns take just five ingredients. First, start with Pillsbury® Grands!® Refrigerated Southern Style Biscuits. Just follow the package directions and bake them to a beautiful golden brown. And don’t forget the cheese! You’re going to need 1-½ cups of finely shredded Monterey Jack and Colby cheese.
Next, gather some turkey breast slices, crisp bacon strips and sliced tomato. For convenience, I visit my grocer’s deli for thickly sliced turkey. They have a multitude of flavors to choose from...just pick out your favorite. For my Hot Browns, I chose mesquite smoked turkey breast.
Then simply split your biscuits in half with a fork. Top with a slice of turkey breast. As you can see, I halved the large turkey slices from the deli to fit the biscuits. Next, top with 2 tablespoons of cheese. (That may seem like a lot, but this is what makes the Hot Browns so good. Don’t be stingy!)
Add thick slices of fresh tomato, some crispy bacon and even more cheese!
Replace the biscuit tops. Now they are ready for the oven. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes at 400° or until the cheese has melted and the biscuits a slightly deeper golden brown.
You have this amazing cheesy goodness you won’t be able to resist.
This is Southern comfort at its easiest and best. Kentucky Hot Browns are amazing and a treat the whole family will go crazy for.
