Headlines of the Week: Thanksgiving Edition

If you’re as excited for Thanksgiving as I am, then you’ve already got at least some of your menu planned out. But for the one holiday of the year that’s centered around traditional food, it never hurts to check out some new and exciting recipes. Here’s our Thanksgiving edition of headlines!

Bacon Quiche Biscuit Cups

To start off with, you might serve up this adaptation of a popular Pillsbury recipe that can be somewhat time consuming, but a great way to start of your Thanksgiving Day. Tasting similar to a muffin, these Biscuit Cups feature bacon, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, onions, milk and Pillsbury Grands! Biscuit Dough.

http://cookingwithchristen.wordpress.com/2009/11/19/bacon-quiche-biscuit-cups/

Lamb Empadillas

This blogger confesses she didn’t have a recipe in mind when she bought ground lamb. However, what she came up with is a something not to challenging, but that will really impress your guests on the big day. Take a cookie cutter to your Pillsbury Pie Crusts, cover with a nice egg wash, fill with a fried mixture of onions, garlic, pine nuts, lamb, olives and seasoning, and bake until ready. Great for dinner or as an appetizer!

http://katelombardi.typepad.com/the_kate_chronicles/2009/11/lamb-empadillas.html

Dairy and Nut Free Apple Crumb Pie

Popular food allergy expert and author Kelly Rudnicki calls this recipe “perfect for any holiday table, especially Thanksgiving.” The filling is that of a pretty traditional apple pie: apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon, flour and salt. However, for your crumb topping, you’ll find oats, brown sugar, margarine (dairy free, according to the recipe) and more seasoning. Place it all inside a Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust and you’ve got a dessert you’re guests will be asking for at dinnertime!

http://www.foodallergymama.com/2009/11/19/the-perfect-dairy-and-nut-free-thanksgiving-pie-apple-crumb-pie/

Crunch Caramel Cookie Bars

Although this isn’t overtly Thanksgiving-themed, we doubt anyone will mind. Every time the folks over at Picky-Palate.com decide to create something using Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough, we know we’re in for a treat. Along with crushed pretzels, peanut butter cups, and both caramel and chocolate chips, this recipe is definitely a winner for your holiday cookie plates.

http://picky-palate.com/2009/11/19/crunchy-caramel-reeses-cookie-bars/

46’ Tall Pillsbury Doughboy

Hello Everyone:

We are happy you are here! Thought it would be helpful to have an area for members to
introduce themselves. It’s nice to know a bit more about the person behind the
post.

These are some things we would love to know about you:

(1) What brought you to the Pillsbury Community?

(2) Who taught you how to cook? Who do you cook for now?

(3) Biggest time saver in the kitchen for you?

(4) Name some top ingredients that are the most often bought
(and most often used) in your refrigerator and cupboard.

(5) Anything else you want to share!

communication

I am disappointed that communication seems to be so limited concerning the Pillsbury contests. I thought with the monthly challenge something would be announced by now letting all of us that follow the contest the results. I thought since all of us who entered the Bake -Off were connected on line Pillsbury would be kind enough to communicate with all of us that either we were selected or not selected. I know the numbers were large that entered the Bake-Off but with e mail I think all of us would have appreciated the communication. Maybe in two years Pillsbury will consider such a process.

My grandson has a life threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts so I'm trying to find out whether the rolled pie crusts have been manufactured on equipment that has not had any kind of nuts also manufactured. The box does not reveal the information. I want to make a pie for Thanksgiving so MUST have the information as soon as possible.

Perfect Portions biscuits

I loved using the Perfect Portions Biscuits to cook for 2, often pressing the dough out and making a recipe for 2 people (Italian Herb flat bread, etc.) instead of just making the biscuits as is. I am very disappointed that Pillsbury apparently discontinued this product. They are pushing the frozen biscuits as being good for 'meals for 2,' but you can't use that the same way as the refrigerated dough.
