Chinese Food for One.

Lately I have been craving chinese food on almost a daily basis.  Since I'm the only one in the house nuts for it I should cook it as a meal for one and not drag everyone out to the chinese restaurant right?  Speaking of nuts I like the ones with chicken and nuts in them, I guess stir fry's.  Can anyone suggest an easy way to sauce it up since I don't like using twenty ingredients for anything but just want that basic asian flavor on a fast meal.  (p.s. I do have a wok so stir fry is an option, or any tried and true easy recipes will be a great help...thanks.)

Hi like2cookluv2eat,

This is a sauce I have used :

Toss meat with ginger  ( 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger or 2 teaspoons ground ginger ) and 1 tablespoon corn starch  to coat lightly.

In bowl combine 1 tablespoon corn starch, 1/2 cup chicken broth, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and 2 tsp dark sesame oil.

You can add the above sauce to a stir fry of veggies after you stir fry the meat , top with some chopped nuts and sliced green onions.

This sauce was always used by Martin Yan on his TV show , You Can Cook.

Enjoy.

Do you like pot stickers?  The easiest thing in the world is to pre-make the pot stickers and freeze them before cooking.  When you need an Asian-flavored fix, simply take three or four stickers out of the freezer whenever you like and steam them in a saute pan (per the recipe instructions).  They taste just like fresh and are ready in minutes with just one pot to clean afterward.  My favorite recipe is below, from Food Network.

For pot stickers, I like a simple dipping sauce of 1 part soy sauce, 1/2 part hoisin sauce, fresh sliced scallions, and dashes of chili oil and sesame oil to taste.

Re: Chinese Food for One.

Well my chinese food cravings have not gone away and so just last night I made a yummy asian style side:  simple broccoli and onion stir fry with olive and sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and garlic and onion seasoning (the Mc Cormick brand is fine for my current eating style as it contains no sugars, I got turned onto this brand during the contest and am a huge fan of the grinders as well...freshly ground whatever you want).  Served it with beef kabobs sprinkled with same that grilled in about twelve minutes about the same time it would take to bake some sesame sprinkled breadsticks since I am in charge of the indoor foods and sides when my husband man's the grill.  These veggies can be modified to be for one easily.  Well actually they were but when he smelled them and saw them they became for two.
