Looking for 25+ year old Bake-off recipe for Apple Crisp.  It is a family favorite & included a packet of Jello Pudding mix in the ingredient list.  Thanks!!

Re: OLD Recipe Search: Apple Crisp

Hello~  I found this recipe in the Bakeoff Cookbook from the 22nd Bakeoff in 1971.  If this isn't the one you're looking for, let me know and I'll keep looking (I have every bakeoff cookbook)

Applescotch Crisp

4 cups peeled, sliced cooking apples or 2 cans (1 lb 4 oz ea) drained pie-sliced apples

1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar

1 T flour

1/4 C milk

1/2 C water

Topping:

2/3 C Pillsbury All Purpose Flour

1/2 C quick-cooking rolled oats

1/2 C chopped nuts

1/4 C sugar

1/2 t  Salt

1 t cinnamon

1 pkg (4 serving size) dry butterscotch or vanilla pudding and pie filling mix (not instant pudding)

1/2 C butter or margarine, melted

Preheat Oven to 350.

Prepare topping, set aside.  In large mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well.  Pour into ungreased 9 inch square pan.  Sprinkle prepared topping over apples.  Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.  Serve warm or cool.

TOPPING:  In medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.  Mix until crumbly.

Re: OLD Recipe Search: Apple Crisp

Thank you, thank you.  I had lost this recipe and it was a family favorite.  All I could remember were the apples and dry pudding mix.  I know this is it.  I had a huge collection of Pillsbury bake-off recipe books.  I learned to cook from them starting when I was first married in 1965.  I thought they were confidence builders and enjoyed trying them out on guinea pig guests.  I am happy to make it now for my grandchildren.  YIPPEE!

Hello Mrs.SmithMN, my name is Heather and I'm trying to find a pillsbury cookbook.  A good friend had a copy but it got stolen before she  could give it to me, I'm not sure of the year or the ISBN but I remember it has a pinwheel cookie on the cover and that it was a hard cover book, I simply loved the book and have been looking for it for years now since you said you have every one of the bakeoff books I hope you can help me to find this book.

Thanking you in advance

Heather
