Now that's cute!

Do you ever browse through the recipe magazines at the supermarket check-outs?  Check out the latest Pillsbury magazine, Appetizers and Mini Desserts; it has some fabulous ideas for the holidays. My favorite is the Penguin Meatballs. Cute!

If you click the "Magazines and Cookbooks" link at the top of the page you can order back issues of past recipe magazines.

Re: Now that's cute! REGARDING HOTROLLMIX

pillbury hot roll mix comes in a blue &  brown box it is to make products than can be made from dough it is very easy and fast to make for breads, rolls, and pizza crusts. it is delicious and simple for people that do not like baking or are too busy to make it from scratch. also it is easy to have a few boxes around for last minute needs also in some areas it runs out for unknown reasons then you wait for it to come in.

Re: Now that's cute! REGARDING HOTROLLMIX

My great-grandmother used Hot Roll Mix for years to make a delicious Polish sweet bread - we call it Nut Bread, but I'm sure there are other names for it.  My mother and I continue using Hot Roll Mix for the Nut Bread, and lately I've been using it for making pizza dough (the recipe is on the side of the box).  This mix makes fantastic pizza dough, and it just takes a few minutes - compared w/ scratch dough that has to rise for 2 hours.  I love the stuff, and only wish my grocery store carried it all year.  The consider it a "seasonal" item, and only carry it in Nov and Dec. :-(

Anyone know if I can order it directly from somewhere?

Thx!

Re: pb_mama, Thx-Hot roll mix

Dear Thx,  I don't  know where to order, but once you find out, order or purchase several boxes and keep in the freezer.  Any product with yeast, and yeast itself, will keep for months in the freezer., Leila

I just found your post regarding your great-grandmother's Nut Bread. It sounds delightful. Would you be willing to share your recipe? Thanks in advance...   BarbLH

Hot Roll Mix

The grocery store I work at here in colorado (king soopers, a store chain owned by kroger) carries Pillsbury Hot Roll mix year round. It is in the section with the cake mixes. I have used this mix for pizza crust and it's AWESOME! I'm not very talented in making breads and doughs, but this stuff was a cinch!! It is very popular at our store, especially around the holidays. There are plenty of things you can use it for, the box includes recipes for cinnamon rolls, regular rolls, and pizza crust. I suggest trying it if you haven't!!

As for where to order online: http://www.buythecase.net/product/21687/pillsbury_hot_roll_mix/?engine=googlebase

this website offers a case for $27.48. Pretty comparable to store prices i'd say.

this one on the other hand is only 22.04
