Re: introduce yourself

IdeaBig SmileGeekedHi everyone, I'm Kasey1210 and I'm new to this website. I'm trying to get ideas for meals I can make for my brother and his family, who I live with. Thanksgiving will be coming soon and I hope to make a great meal for them. It's been a long time since I did any cooking like that. When my parents were alive, I was the one who cooked all the meals on the holidays. Everyone seemed to enjoy my cooking and I want to start doing it again. Hopefully, I can find some good suggestions for what to make and I think this website is a good place to start. I'm looking forward to seeing what Pillsbury has to offer and I think that I will be able to put what I learn from here to good use. I hope that I will hear from all of you soon.

Sincerely, Kasey1210

I've been trying to introduce myself but the reply button seems disabled.  This is my 5th attempt.  Hope it works.

Re: introduce yourself

Hi, I love to bake but with our oven being decommissioned, I can only bake in my toaster oven for the time being. We're hoping to get a new oven soon so that I can try out some of these delicious recipes on this site!

I love to try the Cinammon Streusel Coffee Cake that I found here.

Hello,

My name is Megan.  I am a college student.  I'm studying to be a high school math teacher.  I love to cook.  It relaxes me and helps me be creative.  I love trying new recipes and cooking for others so my friends love it when I get bored.  We're all broke college students craving a good home-cooked meal so its a great way to mix things up. :)

Re: introduce yourself

Hi,  I'm molly49TX.  I'm a middle-aged disabled single lady who loves to cook.  Enjoy "tweaking" many of the recipes I find in magazines and newspapers to suit me.  I just wish there were lots more single serve recipes out there.  If any of you knows a good website to share where I don't have to convert a larger size recipe please, won't you share it with me?  I'm trying to find out if I can submit a recipe to the Pillsbury Bakeoff but my background in food service may prevent it.

Re: introduce yourself

Hi MOLLY49TX!  In my household, it's usually just my husband and myself; so, my serving sizes are just for 2.  I still prefer to make the recipe as it is called for (usually, 4-8 servings) and freeze the leftovers in single-serving packages.  It saves on money and electricity (it takes almost as long to cook for a single or double serving, as it does for larger servings), and saves on work and time (like many out there, we work up to 70 hours a week, so I try to make the most of my cooking time), not to mention the convenience of reaching into the freezer for a quick, nummy, and healthy home-made meal!  But, if your lifestyle is single serving, many cooking sites that I have been to also have options for at least "cooking for two."  At least with those recipes, you should be able to just cut the amounts in half.

Sorry to hear that you probably weren't able to compete, because of your food service background.  I soooooooo love to cook, and it would be very disappointing to me to love cooking and not be allowed to compete.

Re: introduce yourself

Hello! My name is Jan and I am also new to this community.  Laura, this is my first time entering, too!  I entered two recipes into the contest, and am dreaming (like all of you are) that one of my recipes could possibly win next year.  Everytime I eat those amazing, from-scratch Peanut Bloosom cookies, I think of the Pillsbury Bake Off. So it would be just so fun if one of my recipes was linked forever as a Pillsbury Bake Off finalist or the winner!  I don't expect to win, however, because there are so many talented cooks.  It's just fun to dream!  And, having entered this contest makes one more item checked off of my Bucket List!

I am a self-employed software developer.  Unfortunately, over the next few months I have a project for my clients that will be taking up much of my personal time.  So, I won't be able to be in these threads very much until the project is done.  So, I am leaving this message because I just wanted to tell all of you that I am excited to be a part of this with you, and wish each of you luck!!!

Look forward to participating in the threads, once my project is done!

Hugs!  Jan

Re: introduce yourself

Hello, everyone. I live in northern Illinois, and teach English at a small college. I absolutely love my job. I also enjoy cooking, especially baking. My husband is a pie hound, so I'm always looking for new pie recipes for him. After 14 years together I've gotten to be a very god pie maker, but even though I'm pretty skilled in the kitchen, he is better! He's a marvelous cook, and his cheesecakes are legendary. Much of my confidence as a cook has come from him. We love to work in the kitchen together; we make a great team.
