Both recipes sound and look scrumptious, but I'm not voting for either one. Even though I'm not on a low-fat diet,  I am somewhat  aware that the amounts of fat in these two recipes is a lot of fat.

Re: Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake vs. Applewood Bacon Breakfast Pizza

I have taken the time to try both recipes in our household.  The breakfast bake should have been judged against another dessert and both recipes are really good.  I won't go through that much to make breakfast, except for a special occasion.  I have eight kids and I want simple and good.  as to say I want my cake and eat it too. The pizza was very easy.  However I like dessert any time of the day.  Not really a fair pair up. How are these recipes selected?  Is it random?  What time does the next set come out?

I just wanted to post this wording from the FAQ: "All contest recipe entries are evaluated using the same criteria of taste, appearance, creativity and consumer appeal. Judges select which 20 recipes will compete online at www.bakeoff.com <http://www.bakeoff.com> . Recipes are posted in pairs for a period of two weeks for each pair. The first pair of recipes was posted on May 14, 2009 and a new pair of recipes will be posted every two weeks:  May 28, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3 and September 17, 2009."

Sincerely, Cate

These are probably not the kind of recipes I would make, due to the calories in them.  But if I wasn't worried about calories, I would most want to try the Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake.   But that's just my taste buds and sweet tooth talking.   The breakfast pizza sounds good too, but I wouldn't go to that much trouble for an egg dish - I'd be happy with scrambled eggs and toast.  Congratulations to the creative cooks for making it this far.

I did vote, however, I would not make either one. Seems to be alot of ingredients in both dishes and the cost can get expensive. I try to make more quick and easy recipes. I did enter the contest..hope I get to be a finalist, however...I still can't seem to get into the press room. I have called and I get the answering machine every time. I agree with the last reply, that its alot of work to make that breakfast pizza....easier to make eggs, bacon, etc...however, I found it to look very appealing..so I voted for the Pizza. Good luck!

I also voted but did not make either one of the recipes. Sorry, too many ingredients. I lift weights on a regular basis and eat a high protein breakfast, so the healthier choice for me would be the  Applewood Bacon Breakfast Pizza. I also entered the Bake-Off contest and tried to keep my ingredients to a minimum. I'm a little uncomfortable with this popularity vote concept, I wish the best of luck to everyone who has to go through this, I feel for them.[:(][U][Y]

Re: Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake vs. Applewood Bacon Breakfast Pizza

I was very excited to see the first two recipes, at first glance I was delighted to see the Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake and I would have voted for it.   But , I decided to make them both for my family and staff to get their vote.  The Pizza was very easy to prepare and it had very intense flavors I love it I thought the Apple Bake took too long to set.  My staff liked both and at first they could not decide but thought that the Apple breakfast bake should have been in the desert catorgory so they voted for the pizzaMy family loved the pizza.[pi]  I think these are very creative recipes and I liked them both but "I loved the Applewood Bacon Breakfast Pizza [H]even though it has a great amount of fat I will save this recipe for future use.    "Hats Off to the Cooks"

[:)]My vote went to the Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake.  To cut back on fat and calories, I would use reduced fat cream cheese and sour cream (I don't like using fat free products in baking).  And you could use sugar free orange marmalade and light or fat free whipped topping.

I think this would be a great brunch recipe or like ShyCook said, could also be served as a dessert - why not?  Reminds me of something my mom would have made from scratch but this easier version is fine by me! [:)]

I voted for the Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake.   This recipe sounds soo yummy.  This is something I would serve for breakfast when my sister comes to spend the night.  She would be so impressed with my culinary expertise.  It really sounds yummy.

Both sounded very good. I could not vote for the Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake though. There seems to be a lot of ingredients and steps. Also, the recipe was difficult to read. The Applewood Bacon Breakfast Pizza sounded much simpler to make and absolutely delicious! Good luck to the contestants!
