Dump Cake

Was reading one of the threads, and a couple of people had requested this.  Low and no sugar items can be used for a healthier version.  ldbayou

DUMP CAKE

  • 1 20 oz. can pie filling-(I use cherry)
  • 1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple (do not drain)
  • 1 box cake mix (I use yellow)
  • 2 sticks melted butter or margarine

Spray 9 x 13 in. pan.  Combine pie filling and pineapple and pour into pan.  Sprinkle cake mix over fruit.  Drizzle butter over cake mix.  Bake 350 degrees 45 min. or lightly browned.  My oven is a little off and I have to cook almost an hour.

Re: Dump Cake

This sounds so good and quick.  I used to make the same thing, but with a large can of peaches, a yellow cake mix and the melted butter in that order.

I think I'll try both and cut and freeze for quick breakfasts or snacks.

Thank you for sharing

Re: Dump Cake

Thank you so much for the recipe posting. My mom used to make this exact one and she passed before I got the recipe. You have really made my day and brought many happy memories for me.[:D]

Re: Dump Cake

Another really easy, low sugar cake is:

1 One step angel food cake mix (1 bag only)

1 20 oz can crushed pineapple unsweetened

Put the cake mix in a large mixing bowl and add the pineapple juice and all and stir thoroughly. If the pineapple has hardly any juice add about 1/4 cup water. The mixture will foam. Immediately pour it into a ungreased 9 x 13 metal pan and bake at 350 until lightly browned and firm in the middle. Check at about 25 to 30 minutes baking  time. You can either leave it in the pan or cut around the edge and turn out. It's good with whipped topping. When I use Aldi's crushed pineapple , sometimes there is very little juice compared to other brands. I've never had to add water any other brand.
