Pumpkin pie

Here in naples italy we cant always find what we need to cook with.Last week i wanted some canned pumpkin mix that they did not have so i bought a pumpkin. When i got home i did a web search to find how to make a pie from scratch and found that pumpkin (the halloween icon) is not the best thing to use for a pie, for the best results use a long island cheese squash. I just happened to have one that was given to my wife by an italian friend so i used it to make a pumpkin pie and a pumpkin cheese cake and they were the best i have had in a while. PS the pumpkin did make a nice jack o lantern.

Re: Pumpkin pie

Hi Warren: So happy you joined us! This was just talked about on the Betty Crocker boards (I'm in both places). Here is the link! Please let us know how it turns out if you end up cooking and baking the pumpkin!

Sincerely, CC

Hi Warren!

Ahh, I see what you're saying now. I'm glad it tasted so well. Are you making another one for the holidays?

Since you were last here we added this helpful page:

What temp and time did you end cooking your squash?

BTW- if you're interested we have a squash recipe here:
