What are you doing with your Autumn Apples?

This past weekend I visited the cider mill and forgot how much I enjoy the smell of fresh apples! Now that so many types of apples are in season, I wanted to ask you what you’re doing with yours? Do you make caramel apples or just eat them as is? Do you have an apple recipe that you love making? Please share!

If you are looking for apple inspiration- we found it in the blogosphere! Here are some apple related posts that used Pillsbury in their recipes! http://www.Pillsbury.com/CommunityForums/forums.aspx/26/944

Want more? When you go to the main page of Pillsbury.com you see the recipe for Cranberry-Apple Napoleons. This recipe is a Member’s only recipe (trust me though, it’s worth the quick sign up to see this recipe and others like the Sugar-and-Spice Snack Mix).

Looking forward to your responses!

Re: What are you doing with your Autumn Apples?

Right now, I'm addicted to Honey Crisps. I usually like to buy my carmel apples from the store... but I never thought about just adding caramel topping to my apple pie. What a smart twist! (I may just have to try this recipe this year).

My apple recipe... is really year long. I often replace some of the oil/butter in my breads and muffins with apple sauce to make them healthier. General Rule: For maximum texture and flavor, replace no more than half the amount of the fat listed in the recipe. If a recipe calls for 1/2 cup butter, you can substitute 1/4 cup applesauce, saving 44 grams of fat and 400 calories (the fat and calories in 1/4 cup margarine)

This recipe caught my eye recently, because it's already an apple related bread. Cider Pumpkin Bread! Yum! After I make it, I'll review it here.

Sincerely, CC

I happened to have pillsbury pizza crust left over so I took that melted 1/2 c of butter and brushed the dough with half of the melted butter. On top of the butter I sprinkled cinnamon, sugar and brown sugar, then I placed a layer of thinly sliced apples on top with chopped toasted pecans and then I added another layer of cinnamon, sugar and brown sugar and finished it with the rest of the butter. I cooked it at 400 degrees until the crust was golden brown, it turned out great!
