My Grandmother, a real southern lady, always called her hotdishes or casseroles "Garbageman's Delight" saying they had everything in them except the Kitchen sink!  They were always great!  No matter what she called them!

Well I guess in different up bringings they are called different things but  we've always called them THROW TOGETHERS

When we moved to MN 40 yrs ago we had not heard of Hot-Dish; we had Casseroles.  What I discovered was Hot-Dish always has noodles in it.  Casseroles do not! 

My husband calls me "Queen of Casseroles", but my sister prefers to call them "The Miracle of Leftovers". Whichever way, they both enjoy them very much, no matter what I put inside! Oh, and I make them as desserts too, a throw-all-the-fruits-and-nuts kind of dessert, served warm with icecream.

  Most people call them a casserole, but we call them concoctions.  Using leftovers we concocked a new meal.

Here on the west coast its called casserole. They also contain noodles/pasta.

When I was growing up, mom called them Hot Dishes.  My husband's family called them casseroles.  Both dishes could have pasta in them.  It just depended on what kind we were making.

I call this a casserole, when every thing that can go into one dish is a casserole a meal in one.

I'm from Minnesota and we call it a hotdish.

My husband is originally from Iowa and it probably took him 3 years from the time that we were married before he figured out that my "hotdish" was the same as his casserole!

He's a "hot-dish" person now!

In the area, where my husband and I live,a one-dish oven meal is called a covered dish at church get togethers,but my husband and I call it a casserole at home.  I have heard a few people call it a bake though.  We live in North Carolina!   I have always called it a "casserole" and probably always will!

Pot-Luck is what I call a one dish oven meal. These meals are not catergory specific and can contain any type of meal. I have a Veggie Pot Luck as well as a Potato Pot Luck that my friends and family love.

I'm from the west coast and we call just about everything that is baked in a pan (that is not a dessert) a casserole.

We take what every we want to have for super & just put in all together in a oven bag & put it in the oven.
