Re: Please vote! What size do you prefer to your printed recipes to be?

I just voted.

However, I would like to make a comment re the small (supermarket check out counter size) cookbooks that Pillsbury and General Mills (and others) put out.

It seems that the last few years so many of these print the recipes as CARDS!  I have hated recipe cards (for over 50 years!) ...    The other week I saw a new one at the supermarket using some products I enjoy ... discovered it was those horrible cards.  Put it right back.

I know many people LOVE recipe cards. I'm definitely not one of them.  If this comment can be passed on to the correct department..> I'd appreciate that!

Hi jds12: I am happy to pass on the comment. Why do you hate the cards? Are they too small?

Sincerely, Cate

Cate --

No I don't think they're too small.  I do remember having a box w/ cards when I was young and single (eons ago!).   Somehow as I became more used to cooking/baking I liked having either a book or a recipe sheet.

I started buying cookbooks (small paper backs and large hard covers) plus getting cookbooks out of the public library.

Now, of course, many of our favorites are saved in my computer - under different categories, types, etc.  But I still have umpteen 3 ring binders of recipes I've typed (before I was into computers) and printed off from sites and newspaper food secitons, magazines, etc.   And cookbooks!  I have bookcases in 3 bedrooms and in the dinette!   Plus I have some boxes of clippings and such .. that I'm trying to sort-through.  I've sold and/or given away hundreds .. but they still accumulate and multiply --- like rabbits!   I'll probably be 115 before I sort them all out .. but I work at it!

I do have some cards .. its just NOT MY favorite way.  I have friends that love cards.  But I find the ones in these small books just are not my thing.   But occasionally I'll buy one if I HAVE to have something!

Hi, CateC.  I am in agreement with jds12.  I gave up on recipe boxes a LONG time ago and went to 3-ring binders.   More manageable and convenient for me.  Like she/he, I have a ton of recipes collected again, and need to sort again.  Kinda like house work, you never get done.  But at least recipe sorting is more FUN !!!!!  HE HE!  Hugs,

I really like the 1/2 sheet size.
