Lovin' the Doughboy!

I collect doughboy items and cannot get enough of this cute guy.

I think the finger poke became politically incorrect a while back.

I think Pillsbury should push for more cross merchandising with the doughboy and give the collectors what they want.

I have been a life long lover, I have a picture of me holding my plastic doughboy from 1972.

Just my thoughts on it all.

I collect doughboy items as well and like you I cant get enough of him.  Even though I have

tons of doughboy stuff, I feel that there could be more.  I am a life time lover of the doughboy

and I wish that Pillsbury would bring back the doughboy points.  I have collected many.

Any thoughts?

I agree. I, too, have many saved up. I wonder why they stopped them? I think it's a good way to make many good customers a bit irate.

My mother-in-law always keeps me in steady supply of Doughboy memorabilia.  She loves the flea markets, and every Doughboy trinket she finds, makes it's way to my collection.

Re: Lovin' the Doughboy!

Just a thought but have you tried ebay want it now listing, someone may have them sitting around waiting for you to ask for! Or for just the fabric (if you or someone else can sew) to make them if you can't find them.

Try this link to ebay for placemats you could  sew together to make a valance!

Hi, at this time we don't allow emails in the boards, but it's easier to link to things like your blog in your profile.

Sincerely, Cate

Re: Lovin' the Doughboy!

I have been collecting the doughboy items for over 10 yrs now.  When I got married (seven yrs. ago) I decided to decorate my kitchen with him.  At that time I had the points and got some items and different family members got me items from curtains to stove covers and towels.  I got this doughboy cookie jar and when you lift the lid it say his famous line "hoohoo".  Now my girls, instead of asking for a cookie from the cookie jar, they ask for a hoohoo.

I have kept the doughboy points, in case they do bring them back.  I do wish they would have kept them.  I bought pillsbury stuff more often just for the points, and had my family members collecting them for me whenever they bought it.

I just started cutting the points and I have no idea where I can redeem them. Can you lead me in the right direction. Thanks

My whole family collects the collectibles also. We have the Pillsbury doll that when you poke his belly, he makes that famous sound" hoo hoo"!

Re: Lovin' the Doughboy!

I wish that I could photograph my entire kitchen in one shot -- sort of a panoramic surround-sensation of Poppin Fresh!  Yes I am old enough (1 yeer older than Dough) that he was always called Poppin' in my memory, but in my house, when my brother and I played with the vinyl Poppin' and Poppie dolls (the seven-inch ones, and the finger-puppet Family including Biscuit, Bun-Bun and Popper -- I didn't get Flapjack and Granmommer and Granpopper until I was over thirty!) we always called him just plain Dough.  After a while it all sort of ran together - a game I called "playing PoppieDough."  Poppie and Dough appropriated all the other toys in the house, including Barbie's Dream Camper and sometimes some of G.I. Joe's weaponry. Now that's a dangerous thought -- Poppie with a grenade!  ("Buy my flaky biscuits, or Betty Crocker here gets messed up!")  Even an elaborate miniature dollhouse which my sister spent years on, putting up scaled-down wallpaper and rugs, and little chandeliers -- Popper and Bun-Bun moved in immediately.  Bun-Bun had to sleep in the top bunk bed though because her head was too big for the bottom bunk.

Now I have Uncle in his blue car, and Cupcake the bear with the bib (my sister also made me a teensy weensy Cupcake out of felt for Bun-Bun to sleep with in her bunk bed) and a stuffed Flapjack made as an advertising tie-in with Hush Puppies shoes.  Of course I like the kitchen things and I cherish the curtains my late mother got for me for my first apartment -- but my heart is always with the toys.  I still see miniature things and think, "That's for Poppie!"

The Family has also come with us on several vacations.  Biscuit violated several British laws by having her photograph taken beyond the ropes at Stonehenge, Dough can be spotted on the ramparts of Warwick Castle, and Bun-Bun loved the World of Motion at Epcot.  At a pancake house in Akron, Ohio (don't ask) my sister-in-law and I were admonished by the waitress for allowing Popper and Poppie to get so much syrup on themselves.  We had to take the whole family to the ladies' room to get washed.
