Outdoor birthday party food ideas

Hi Everyone,

I am a mom to a one year old and 12 weeks pregnant.

We celebrate my little ones first birthday in Oct end and we decided to keep it outdoors, taking advantage of the amazing weather here in SoCal.

I was hoping I could create a feast for about 15 kids and 35 adults by myself. Ordering food is getting way too expensive.I would prefer veggie reciepes, though cheese is fine as we are trying to go vegetarian and stay off meat.

If any of you could give me some ideas for this outdoor birthday party, it would be great. I will need to make these about 7-8 hours before the party. I can keep them on"warm" setting in the oven and pick them up right before I leave. But I have this huge 'outdoor' factor to keep in mind.

I have some ideas I was thinking about.

Mini Veggie sliders, breaded asparagus, little veggie puffs, confetti wheels, chips and dips and potato/sweet potato wedges.

If any of you have made these for an outdoor party and think any of them wont work, please let me know.

I appreciate the feedback.

Take Care

Happy birthday to your little one!

What about veggie pizza? This recipe is easy to make and can be made on your grill outside: www.pillsbury.com/.../599bc928-b52c-4307-86da-7689ea928a30

Breadstick's hold up pretty well and I made swords for my last kid's outdoor party they were wecomed and eaten up. Look up "breadstick swords" on my recipes.  A veggie dip I like a lot is regular dip like green onion dip from the packet with regular sour cream with cutup chunks of mild yellow and orange bell peppers lightly salted.  This can be prepared well in advance as well.  I used to order a veggie sub and have honey mustard dressing put on it on honey oat bread and people went nuts for it.  Cucumbers, spinach, lettuce, bell peppers, tomatoes, feta, cilantro, banana peppers, onions, they don't seem like popular veggies but somehow altogether with that honey mustard ties it altogether.  Maybe you could make one yourself for less, I know Albertson's has an inexpensive wheat loaf they bake daily, but how delicious would this sandwich be on a fresh baked circle loaf made from two Simply Loaves from pillsbury.  I've made other circular loaf sandwiches with this bread and they taste so fresh and people ask, "where did you get circle bread" I love saying I made it!
