'White Cake-creamy version'

White Cake-creamy version

Last week my husband made a Pillsbury White Cake and used the optional recipe on the back of the box called - "Creamy Version".  He thought it used less eggs and less water.  We REALLY LIKED it but now we can't find this Creamy option listed on the back any boxes in the grocery store.  Does anyone know what this was?  Will it work for any of the cake mixes, or only specific ones?

You may want to go on the site pillsburybaking.com as the Pillsbury cake mixes are no longer Pillsbury products (I know, it doesn't seem to make sense until you realize that General Mills sold the Pillsbury baking mixes to JM Smuckers).  I have a suggestion for you and everyone else that ever tries a recipe that is on the back of the box; don't throw the box away until you have the recipe filed where you can find it again as the recipe is never guaranteed to stay on the back of the box.  Companies do this to get you to try their products in different ways so you don't get tired of the product and switch to somebody else's product.  Always keep the recipe if you like it.  Companies are always changing the optional recipes to freshen up their products.

Interesting.  I would like to know as well.  Would you mind forwarding on to me if you find out?


I will tell you I tried one I heard of last week and my husband loved it.  Could not be easier.  Take large can of crushed pineapple and but in with white cake mix, stir together and bake.  Just the two ingredients.  He loved it.  I didn't care for it much but I am not a pineapple fan, lol.

That sounds super easy!  How large was the can of crushed pineapple? And did you use all the juice or just some of it?

Checked three stores and found cake mix with a egg white choice. Did not find Creamy White Cake.


If the egg white version works here are the directions:


1 1/4 water   1/3 cup oil  4 egg whites.


I did Google Pillsbury Creamy White Cake and found a few leads, you might want to check it out.

Slbv021   Hi..  HAve you thought to search the internet for that brand of Cake mix? Or search for the name of that recipe? Until you can find it, buy a regular white cake mix, use eggs it calls for, but remove the yolks. Egg whites started for the purpose to remove cholesterol. Cholesterol is in the yolk, which is what makes the cake yellow. So use white cake mix , with egg whites. MAy have to adjust how many eggs, water, or oil... IF you can contact the company whom has that cake mix, ask for that recipe, they may retrieve from their archives.  Goodluck !

When I think of creamy things one thing comes to mind. I would try using either half and half or cream for half of the liquid for your cake.
