Headlines: Top 5 PIES for Winter 2009!

With temperatures dropping outside, nothing warms you up like a pie baking in the oven. What’s your favorite way to fill a Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust? While there is any number of delightful solutions, here are five that we found particularly enticing.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie
Everybody has their own rendition of the “perfect” Pumpkin Pie, but this looks like an excellent contender. The blogger states that this recipe was so good, she even got her children to have some. Use Pumpkin Pie filling or, if you’re feeling adventurous, 1½ cups cooked and puréed fresh pumpkin, along with nutmeg, low-fat milk, brown sugar, and your own creative array of spices!

Pumpkin-Ginger Pie with Gingersnap Streusel
This one differs from your standard Pumpkin Pie in that it features gingersnap cookies, pecans, and fresh ginger. To kick it up a notch, you might even put some marshmallows on top and let them melt into the pumpkin-gingersnap streusel mix. Use Pillsbury’s Pet-Ritz Frozen Deep Dish Pie Crust instead of the usual Refrigerated Pie Crust for this recipe that is more time consuming, but worth it for satisfied guests.

Easy Pot Pie

Looking for a great Chicken Pot Pie that doesn’t take long to make and won’t break the bank? Then, look no further! At an average cost of $6.25, this pie can be made with chicken, beef, turkey, vegetables, or “whatever kind of meat that you have or have leftover.”

Lemon Sponge Pie

This blogger attributes her ever-popular recipe to her Grandma, which means a lot of work and a more rewarding final product. A careful mixture of 2 eggs, lemon juice, lemon peel, butter, sugar, and milk inside a Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust will be your recipe for success. This holiday treat features a “custard-like sponge with a very strong lemon cream flavor.”

Pecan-Caramel-Apple Pie
Although the three key ingredients are right there in the recipe, it’s a unique recipe that will leave your guests very impressed. Featuring an apple pie filling and a caramel-pecan topping, this pie boasts a traditional flavor perfect for the holidays!

Which one of those sounds the best to you? Do you prefer an entrée pie, such as a pot pie, or an after dinner pie, such as a fruit pie? We want to hear what sort of treats you have planned for the upcoming holiday season.
