Hi! I just talked to the Pillsbury Kitchen's about this: Here was their response:

You could try the garlic breadsticks and still roll them in cornmeal; it would obviously be a different flavor, but it is the closet product we have in count/form.

If you're not interested in garlic, then you could try the original breadsticks, you would have to manipulate a bit as those make 12 breadsticks vs. 8 for garlic or the corn breadsticks.

Let us know if you end up trying this at home.

Hope this helps or inspires! Sincerely, Cate

Re: corn bread twists

My family also loved them, especially with Chili recipes. I hate when you find something you really like and the company discontinues it.

I will try the original ones and try and doctor them but I am sure they won't taste the same!!

Re: corn bread twists

I was very surprised that when I made chili for the first time this season,  I could not find the corn bread twists. I went everywhere looking for them.   It's a favorite!!  I hope these posts will convince Pillsbury to start making them again!!  They were so easy and tasted great!!

Hope to see them again soon.

Re: corn bread twists

Rolling one of your other products in something else is certainly not the same as your original Cornbread Twist.  Do you think that maybe Pillsbury could bring them back in the wintertime as a special.  We really miss them.  Or how about placing them in the freezer section as a "new" product.

Re: corn bread twists

I would still like to know WHY they were discontinued - especially with so many of us missing them. I thought it was just not available at my store anymore, but i'm really bummed to see that they just don't exist anymore.

Re: corn bread twists

My family does not like the breadsticks, and you should really have some sort of recipe for the twists or the company needs to produce them again so people who have really great recipes that call for them can actually use the recipe.

Re: corn bread twists

I miss them a LOT!  We used them for years and they were always our favorite with chili for dinner.  Any other corn bread just isn't the same.  I don't know why they removed them from the market.  They were GREAT!  And we miss them every time we have chili.

Re: corn bread twists

I hate to say it, but in removing the cornbread twists from the market, Pillsbury lost out on a market share that no-one else had.  Highly surprising but I will play devil's advocate & presume that the sales for the Corn Bread Twists weren't stellar, causing them to rethink their marketing of that product.  Perhaps they may come out with something better like Hushpuppies.  They would be smaller & if they make it in a re-sealable bag, people would be able to use them for more than one meal.  It would create a more amiable product, one that would definitely help with making dinner preparations quicker & easier!  I agree with you...rolling cornbread over regular breadsticks is messy, time consuming and it most certainly will not taste like corn bread anything!  I hope the folks from Pillsbury are reading these...maybe that will spur them onto a newer and better corn bread product if they don't like the idea I wrote about here.  Meanwhile, I do believe that your only hope would be to get some cornmeal & make your own cornbread.  It's more inconvenient but unless you're willing to buy the store made stuff, (which isn't as tasty) it's the only alternative you have for the time being.  Good Luck!

Re: corn bread twists

I agree that discontinuing this product is a big mistake. My family loved cornbread twists wrapped around a hot dog. Tasted just like a corndog! If the refrigerated product wasn't a big seller, please try to re-market in the freezer section. I would buy them even though the kids are grown. Grandkids are on the way, so please hurry and get these back in my local grocery store.

Re: corn bread twists

Me, too!  I went to buy these the other night when I was making chili because I didn't have the time to make cornbread, and couldn't find any.  Hmmm.  Maybe they'll replace those with some ready-to-bake corn muffins or something,
