They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it’s next to impossible for me to get my kids to eat it.   On a good day, they grab an apple to munch on the way to the bus because they’re too busy getting ready to sit down and eat.  One solution that works sometimes is to have cereal and milk ready and waiting for them, but instead of using a bowl, I serve it in a mug that can be carried into a bedroom for bites between getting dressed, or carried to a desk while they finish up last-minute homework.  Any other ideas out there?

 OK, that was a good idea.  But my kids left the cups everywhere.  Now, we use either what we call 'teenage sippie cups' or zipper freezer bags.  If they kids are leaving for scouts or something, the bags are best because they can be thrown away and zip closed to keep them from dripping in someone elses car/truck.

 The 'teenage sippie cups' we bought in bulk from a warehouse place.  200 large degradable coffee cups and the dometop lids which have a big enough opening to get a spoon in.  They also use these when running to the bus stop. 

 We are always running early.  Doing homework (they did not get completed the night before), going early into school (they have early school assistance, not afterschool as I did long ago) and all the other things kids are into.  If everyone is up enough time to get everything done, it is about 2% of the time.  Your idea is very good.  But for us, we are never standing still enough to use a cup.

The most amazing "quick" breakfast

for me is to pour cereal on top of those

little yogurt cups and stir. Calcium and fiber in

a convenient container of it's own.

Great idea!  You're still bound to get cereal on the floor, but unless you sit down and eat at a table, that's just the way it goes.......!

cereal bars are awesome to make the day before and have ready for an on-the-go breakfast.

you need 5-6 cups of your favorite cereal, 3 tablespoons margarine and 4 cups mini marshmellows

melt margarine on low heat, then add the marshmellows until melted

mix with cereal and press into greased pan

cut into bars and enjoy your quick breakfast

Welcome, donahue05.  Your recipe is quick and easy.  I think I will make a batch this weekend.  I bet a few raisins would be good also.  Thanks for posting.  ldbayou

I have made oatmeal raisins cinnamon and sugar cereal bars the night before they are also delicious. Just grab them and go very TASTY..
