Looking for a quick and easy breakfast for 2 kids...

I'm looking for a quick and easy recipe for breakfast for a 5 year old picky eater (who will not eat eggs) and a 2 year old. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you.

Re: Looking for a quick and easy breakfast for 2 kids...

when growing up, my son would not eat fried eggs unless it was a fried egg sandwich on toast spread with Miracle Whip.  The sweetness of M.W.  tastes great.

You might also try French Toast.  Beat 2 eggs in a bowl, add a teaspoon of cinnamon, 2 Tablespoons sugar, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk. Beat well.  Dip bread (whole grain is good since it will be hidden by the egg batter.) in milk and let it soak just a moment, Fry in skillet (medium heat) with a teaspoon of butter, flip when brown and cook the other side.  Serve w ith pancake syrup, honey, or fresh fruit on top.

I would fix home-made oatmeat (old fashion oats) for my daughter with chunks of apple, raisins, and a little cinnamon.  It is quick today by using the microwave.  Just don't let it boil over.  Use and EXTRA LARGE bowl.

One last suggestion, spread peanut butter on toast, slice a banana length-wise on peanut butter and top with another slice of toast spread with apple butter.  YUM!  Hugs, ldbayou

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I will definitely try the french toast. I have tried the oatmeal and she doesn't like that. My 2 year old son will eat just about anything. I have also tried my daughter on pancakes. She likes them, but gets tired of them everyday. Just looking for a little variety.

Hi Vanessa:

Thank you for joining our boards.

Here are a few ideas:

Have you tried Toaster Strudel's? http://www.Pillsbury.com/products/breakfast/frozen/Toaster-Strudel-Pastries.htm

Also, one of my favorite quick meals is a tortilla with cheese down the middle. Put in the microwave for about 15 seconds or until cheese melts. Wrap it up and eat. My little cousins love this meal.

I also love toast and hummus in the morning with some fruit in the morning.

Here are other recipes that could be fun:

http://www.pillsbury.com/Recipes/ShowRecipe.aspx?rid=13974 You don't have to put these on a kabob, but it might be fun if you pre-cut any fruit or cheese the night before.

Also, have your tried different cereals?

Let us know the results! Good Luck Vanessa!

Sincerely, Cate

NO FAIR!-CateC.  I was checking back in and checked on your links, while I am waiting on a trainee. It is lunch time but I will not have time to eat until this evening.  Everything looks so good.  I had cold cereal at 5 a.m. and those pics have made me starvin' Marvin!  Ha Ha.  Will have to try the Chocolate Cherios with my Yogurt this week.

Vanessa, hope the kiddos enjoy CateC's suggestions as much as I will.

Hugs,

My family's favorite breakfast is sausage rolls.  I use crescent rools (any flavor) and beef smoky links (breakfast size or larger links cut lengthwise). Roll the dough triangles around the sausages, place on a baking sheet, and bake for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees.  Cut the baby's roll into small pieces to avoid choking.

If only cocktail sausages are available, cut the dough into smaller pieces and wrap around sausages.  Thin sliced ham, other cooked sausage links, hot dogs, salami may be used instead. Cheese may be added, if desired.

These are also good for school lunches, appetizers, alongside soup or salad.
