Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in pizza sauce until well mixed.
  • 2 Carefully unroll dough in pie pan so edges extend over sides. Pat dough in bottom and up sides of pan, leaving dough extended over sides. Spoon beef mixture into crust. Top with half of the cheese, the pepperoni and remaining cheese.
  • 3 In small bowl, slightly beat egg and water. Fold extended edges of dough up and over filling; seal all edges. Brush crust with egg mixture.
  • 4 Bake 38 to 48 minutes or until deep golden brown. Cool 15 minutes. Cut pizza into wedges; serve with additional pizza sauce.

Expert Tips

Be sure to allow for the 15-minute rest after baking--this gives hot-from-the-oven layers a chance to set up, making the pizza easy to slice and serve.

It was impossible to unroll the dough-it was one solid piece. We then tried rolling it out with a rolling pin. Could not get it to be big enough to hang over piedish. We ended up cutting a third off, rolling the big piece for the bottom & sides and just laying the little piece on top. It did not look as good as yours-but it was delicious! My grandson said it tasted like a pizza lasagna and it reheats nicely in the microwave. I will make it again-but need some tips on how people got the dough to unroll.

Just okay. Seems like it's missing something.

I added an additonal pound of italian sausage and lined the botton crust with smoked mozz cheese.. it was wonderful! Im thinking it would be good with a mexican twist too. I'll have to play with the spices and ingredients but a teriffic basic pizza pie recipe!
