I, too, love the traditional New Orleans Muffaletta - but in having another recipe to use Pillsbury's Crescent Dough some compromise must be made. I noticed the absence of the 'olive salad' in the basic recipe. There is nothing to prevent mixing green & black olives, chopping them well, then draining in a coffee filter to prevent too much liquid spoiling the final result. Amending the recipe this way is quite tasty! If unable to bake this way, proceed as written. Make an aoili using the chopped, mixed olives mixed with a good mayonaisse to dip the sandwiches in.

I have not made this recipe, but am extremely dissappointed. I do know, and love Muffalata sandwiches, and WHERE'S THE OLIVES? Sorry I bothered to open your email.

Not even close to a Muffuletta. Good sandwich but should have named it something else. Not only does a muffuletta need olive salad it needs a Sicilian sesame loaf for the bread.

There are no olives!

This might be good but it isn't a muffuletta. A muffuletta has olive salad on it not just peppers!!
