Pillsbury®Crusty French Loaf FAQs

Got a Question About Pillsbury® Crusty French Loaf?

Don't worry...we've got your answers!

Crusty French Loaf FAQ's
How long can I store unopened cans of Pillsbury Crusty French Loaf?

For best quality, use refrigerated dough before the “use-by” date on the package.

Where should I store the dough?

It's best stored on a shelf in the fridge. Temperatures in the refrigerator’s door shelves or crisper are probably too warm or cold. Make sure you keep dough refrigerated until just before you're ready to bake. Warm dough can be sticky and hard to work with.

What if I forget to refrigerate the dough?

You should throw out any packages of breadstick dough left at room temperature for more than two hours.

Can I use some of the dough now and save some for later?

When you open the can of dough, it activates the leavening that causes the dough to rise. After you open the can, you can cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for up to two hours before baking. After two hours, the dough will begin to deteriorate.

Can I freeze the unbaked dough?

Nope, that could prevent it from rising once it is baked.

Can I freeze baked product?

Absolutely! For best results, use within one month after freezing.

Can I microwave the unbaked dough?

Nope, the uneven heat of a microwave keeps the dough from browning and baking through.

Can I bake refrigerated dough in a toaster oven?

We don't recommend it. A toaster oven’s small size often makes the dough heat unevenly unenly, plus it could burn.

Do I need to preheat the oven?

Yep, preheat the oven for 10 minutes before baking. This will help prevent the product from baking unevenly.

How can I make garlic bread using Crusty French Loaf?

It's so simple:

  • Place the bread dough, seam side down, on a sprayed or greased cookie sheet.
  • With a sharp knife, cut four or five diagonal slashes on top of the dough – about a ½ inch deep.
  • Mix one tablespoon melted butter and ¼ teaspoon garlic salt in small bowl, and brush it over the dough.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 26 to 30 minutes or until it's deep golden brown.
  • Remove it from the cookie sheet and cool for about five minutes. Then slice it with a serrated knife.
How can I make Parmesan bread using Crusty French Loaf?

We've got you covered here, too:

  • Place the bread dough, seam side down, on a sprayed or greased cookie sheet.
  • Slash the top of the dough as directed on the package.
  • Mix two tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese and ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning, crushed, in small bowl.
  • Brush the top of the loaf with one tablespoon olive oil; then sprinkle with the cheese mixture.
  • Bake it at 350 degrees F for 28 to 33 minutes or until golden brown.
What if I cannot find my favorite Pillsbury® refrigerated dough product?

Pillsbury would like all stores to carry all our products. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen. We recommend you express your interest in a particular product to your local store manager.
