Pillsbury® Breadsticks FAQs

Got a question about Pillsbury® Breadsticks?

We've got the answer!

Breadsticks FAQ's
How long can I store unopened packages of Pillsbury Breadsticks?

You'll want to use refrigerated dough before the “use-by” date on the package for the best quality.

Where should I store the dough?

Store breadsticks on a shelf in the fridge. The temperature in the refrigerator’s door shelves or crisper is too warm or too cold. Keep dough refrigerated until just before you're ready to bake. Warm dough can be sticky and hard to handle.

What if I forget to refrigerate the dough?

You really need to get rid of packages of breadstick dough that are left at room temperature for more than two hours.

Can I use some of the dough now and save some for later?

When you open the can of dough, you activate the leavening that causes the dough to rise. After you open the can, you can cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for up to two hours before baking. After two hours, the dough will begin to deteriorate.

Can I freeze the unbaked dough?

Nope, that would keep it from rising once it is baked.

Can I freeze baked dough?

Totally! For best results, make sure you use it within one month after freezing.

Can I microwave the unbaked dough?

Unfortunately, no. The uneven heat of a microwave keeps the dough from browning and baking through.

Can I bake refrigerated dough in a toaster oven?

We definitely don't recommend it. A toaster oven’s small size can results in uneven heating, and the dough can burn.

Do I need to preheat the oven?

Yep, just preheat the oven for 10 minutes before baking. That will help prevent the breadsticks from baking unevenly.

What if I cannot find my favorite Pillsbury® refrigerated dough product?

Pillsbury would like all stores to carry all our products. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen. We recommend you express your interest in a particular product to your local store manager.
