Party time. Be prepared.

It’s party time. Whether you’re hosting a get-together or bringing something to share, appetizers are the creative, crowd-pleasing choice.

Keep crescents on hand so you're ready to party. Check out these ideas and recipes so you're ready for anyone from drop-ins to divas.

  1. Go for variety. Combining shapes, sizes and flavors on a crescent appetizer plate lets guests find a favorite. Not only that, but let’s face it – you’d like your spread to be impressive! A trio like Crescent Bacon-Cheese Tartlets, Turkey-Cranberry Pinwheels and Crescent-Wrapped Brie – all easy crescent recipes – taste as good as they look. And that’s saying something.

  2. Keep it simple. Parties keep you busy. Don’t spend the whole time in the kitchen. Choose a couple of classic appetizers, and fill in your buffet with some purchased items. You don’t have to buy a lot, so splurge on a few fun additions, like mango salsa and chips, crackers and a few deli cheeses, and a tray of a few types of olives. Way easy.

  3. Be ready. Mini Crescent Dogs – always a crowd favorite – are super simple. Keep just two ingredients on hand, along with a few beverages stashed in the ‘fridge, and you’ve got the makings of a party in minutes.

  4. Be fancy (but simple). Nobody has to know how easy it is to make stunning crescent appetizers like Sweet and Sour Shrimp Puffs, Fig and Blue Cheese Appetizer Tarts and Easy Pesto Pinwheels.

  5. Add an edible centerpiece. Build a holiday buffet around appetizers like the Ham and Veggie Crescent Wreath, Tree-Shaped Crescent Veggie Appetizers (catch the video) and the Garlic and Herb Crescent Ornament. Almost too pretty to eat, but dig in – it’s too delicious to miss a bite.

  6. Go potluck. Asking guests to bring something to share is a fabulous way to keep down the stress and the cost of a party – especially if there are lots of people coming. You can suggest recipes (email them right from Pillsbury.com) to keep to a theme, or make it a “reckless” potluck, where anything goes!

  7. Don’t forget the kids. Expecting little ones? Include a few familiar flavors to the buffet...like Pizza Pinwheels, Cheese Crescent Triangles and Pretzels with Sweet Spicy Mustard.

  8. Make it and take it. Headed to a party? Ask the host if you can bake a quick appetizer in her oven. Assemble the Crescent roll appetizers just before you leave home, and carry them right on the baking sheet to the party (covered with foil, of course). Pop them into the oven when you arrive, and serve them warm from the oven. Be prepared for major compliments. Great choices for making and taking are Tuscan Splendor Spinach Braid, Confetti Pinwheels and Muffuletta Crescent Pizza.

  9. Mix and match plates. No matching plates and platters? No worries. Mix plate colors, shapes and sizes to make your buffet more interesting. Small bites like Blueberry, Walnut and Brie Tartlets work well on a little plate, while Artichoke Cheese Braids are impressive on a large platter. (And it’s OK to dig out that big Santa platter for Pinwheel Pepperoni Trees.)

  10. Think sweet and savory. Adding a sweet to the mix keeps everyone happy. Wouldn’t Crescent Macadamia Truffle Cups make a luscious addition to your holiday appetizer platter? Or cut Crescent Layer Bars into small bites and add them to your buffet. Simply delicious.
