How to Make a Bunny Cake

Simple cake mix and two cake rounds are really all you need to make a deliciously fun bunny cake this Easter. We've made it even simpler with these step-by-step instructions for putting your bunny together. Almost too cute to eat ... almost!

  • Step 1

    Bunny Cake Diagram

    Bake the cake layers as directed in the recipe. Print the diagram if you'd like to look at it when you cut the cake layer.

    Cool the cake layers so they'll be easier to cut.

    One cake layer remains as a whole round. Cut the other layer as shown in the diagram.

    Bunny Cake Step

    On a large tray, assemble the pieces into a bunny shape, with the round in the center, ears on top, bow tie on the bottom.

    Frost the entire cake with a thin layer of frosting first (that holds all the crumbs), then a thicker layer over that. Sprinkle the coconut over the cake.

    Use licorice to outline the bow tie and to make the whiskers and mouth on the bunny. Use jelly beans for the eyes, nose and to fill in the bow tie. Use pink sprinkles to fill in the pink part of the ears. Cut the cake to see the colorful surprise.
