Corn-on-the-cob might be the most fun, but it’s just the beginning of what you can do with this healthy, popular veggie. Or is it a grain? (It's actually both!)
Fresh & Tasty
Give fresh salsa, tomato and corn salad and relishes a sweet crunch with raw corn. Removing the kernels is super easy:
- Peel back the husks and silks.
- Stand the cob upright.
- Slice down the length with a sharp knife.
Fire It Up
Picnics and BBQs are better wtih sweet, grilled corn-on-the-cob. If you're cooking it on the stove, peel off the husks and silks before boiling the ears in water. Just boil about 2 minutes, then let them stand for 10 minutes more.
But that’s not all you can do with cooked corn. Add frozen cooked kernels to corn muffins, vegetable soups and creamy chowders. Or steam and serve cooked corn with a bit of cayenne pepper, tarragon or fresh parsley.
