I like a little heat in my food, but I’m not a fan of those dishes that set your mouth on fire and make you cry at the table. I like it to do its thing and move on. I know two people who can handle absolutely ANY level of heat. (It’s freakish and amazing at the same time.) My daughter is one of those people. I won’t let her gauge any heat level because she’ll tell me that it’s okay. Then when I try it, I have to run for a glass of milk or grab an entire loaf of bread and hope my eyes don’t pop out of my head. Not pretty.
This homemade hot sauce is the perfect compromise because it has plenty of heat but it doesn’t linger. I think two jalapenos are just the right amount. But if you dare, you can make it even hotter by adding more jalapeno peppers, seeds and all.
With only a few simple ingredients and a blender, you’ll be on your way to enjoying your very own homemade hot sauce.
You can use the sauce on tacos, in chili, in a hot wing sauce or even in cocktail sauce.
