On busy nights, I rely on Asian dishes of some kind to serve my family an inviting meal. While I love making stir fries, my real passion is more Americanized Asian recipes that use deep-fried bits of chicken tossed in flavorful sauces. Those types of recipes are great because I don’t have to put all of the chicken in the sauce. If my son decides he doesn’t like it, I can just leave his chicken plain. Plus, I can easily make any type of steamed vegetable to serve on the side.
For this recipe, I used honey, agave and spicy sriracha to make the most amazing sauce. I first deep-fried the chicken pieces in a light breading simply made with salt, pepper and a little cornstarch. After the chicken was done, I tossed it in the sauce and served it over instant rice.
Sweet honey and agave are a match made in heaven. Adding some spicy sriracha cuts the sweetness a bit and adds terrific taste. I also added a bit of lemon juice to balance the flavors.
You can make this recipe as spicy or mild as you like be adding more or less sriracha sauce.
