Wine always seems to be the go-to hostess gift. But sometimes it’s nice to take it up a notch and give something you have made. I created a gift basket with homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup and White Chocolate-Dipped Spoons. It is a gift basket you can put together for $10 to $15.

Fall brings the arrival of pumpkin-spiced lattes at our local coffeehouses. Why not treat your favorite people with a bottle of homemade Pumpkin Spice Syrup, along with a couple of mugs and the recipe to create that coffeehouse beverage at home?

The syrup is a simple sugar base with the addition of pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree. Pumpkin pie spice is a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice.

To make a Pumpkin Spice Latte, add 1-1/2 tablespoons of the syrup to 6 ounces of milk.

Heat in the microwave or in a pan on the stove. I have a mini whip that froths my milk. Add one shot of espresso and top with whipped cream. If you want to go crazy, drizzle caramel over the top.

To make up a gift basket, add some mugs. The dollar store is such a great place to pick up items for gifts like this. You can buy a pretty bottle, the basket and two mugs for under $5. I added a few white chocolate-dipped spoons sprinkled with orange sanding sugar. Another tasty addition for the basket is Baked Maple Donuts. Who doesn’t love donuts?
