Re: What are the best cold drinks for summer?
Hi CateC! Your question brought back some fond family memories when we were all able to get together and the following recipe was a standby for children and WINE COOLERS for adults. It will quench a thirst on a hot summer day. You can use the low sugar/diet version for all ingredients.
Children's Fruit Punch-Makes 2 Gallons
1-2 liter bottle Sprite
1-12 oz. can frozen orange juice
1 Tall Can (not frozen-from shelf) pineapple juice
2 pkgs unsweetened Tropical Punch FLavor Koolaid
2 cups sugar or Splenda
1 Gallon water-divided
Mix the first five ingredients in a gallon pitcher. Pour 1/2 into 2 separate clean milk jugs. Fill each with 1/2 gallon water and chill or serve over ice.
Adult Wine Coolers/Fruit Punch-Makes 2 gallon
1-2 liter Sprite
1-12 oz frozen orange juice
1 Tall unfrozen-(shelf) pineapple juice
2 pkgs unsweetened Tropical Punch Flavored Koolaid
2 cups sugar-splenda
1/2 gallon water
1/2 gallon inexpensive white wine
Mix well the first five ingredients in a gallon pitcher. Pour 1/2 of the mixture into 2 separate clean milk jugs. Pour 1 quart water and 1 quart wine into each jug and stir well. Chill or can be served over ice. Love to all, ldbayou
